BJP September 08

So...with all the cancer coming into my life through family and friends, my bead journal page reflects how I'm feeling about the Big "C". The buttons represent the normal blood cells flowing in a "clean" stream down the arteries, veins and capillaries. The big C is the cancer cell that is messing everything up.

My journal pages will be beaded on recycled respirator filters. They have been washed and dried, at least twice, and I have 12 that are approximately all the same size. I hadn't planned on how I would display them until I finished this first one. I decided to add a beaded loop and hang them on a dowel. Each one will be signed and dated on the back. This is going to be an interesting way to keep a journal for a year. I'm glad I was able to sign up this year.

BJP Check out some of the other great beaded journal pages from the Bead Journal Project.

I think this is such a good way to start your bjp's. I have a feeling this project will be very healing and expressive for you. Sending blessings to your friend Diane.

Z'anne,
I'm a seven-year survivor so I understand the emotional side-effects of cancer, both to the patient and to the family and friends. I hope the BJP will offer comfort through the expression of your feelings.

I'm sure your friend appreciates your support the same way I appreciated (and continue to appreciate) the support of my friends. I wish her the best. And I'm sorry about the loss of your mother.

Z'anne!

Wow! What a start and so much feeling and emotions that went into it. I feel for you having lost my mom to cancer which struck 3 different ways. I'm sending loving healing energy to you and your friend. Beautiful piece!

This is a good thing that you are dealing with your emotions and the reality of cancer by posting and with your BJP piece. I'm so sorry about your Mom... and your friend. My prayers and blessings are with you and Diane. Reading your blog posts today inspires me to deal with my feelings about my declining 91-year-old Mom. It's so hard to imagine life without her... and to accept that she's in the process of leaving. Thanks, Z'anne, for paving the way. Robin A.

Thank you, Ladies, for your kind words, thoughts and prayers. It is a true fact, beaders are the NICEST people! I feel honored to be beading with all of you!

Art heals. Beading heals deeper.

Your beading is wonderful Z'anne -- such a special way to honor both your mother and your friend. My thoughts are with you . . .

My thoughts and prayers are with you... my page this month will have to do with health issues too, along with roadblocks in life. I pray things go well for your friend, and I'm sorry about your mom. I have to take my mom next week for a biopsy of a suspicious breast lesion and cannot imagine losing her to C. I'm a cancer survivor myself for 15 years and every day is certainly a gift...

Hi Z'anne, I love your piece! I read your story about your Mothers passing and wanted to let you know how sorry I am for your loss. I lost my Father this year to cancer as well. My first piece was also dedicated to his memory. If you would like to see it, this is the link to my blog:

Thank you, Pam, Kathy and Tracie. I think this project will be very good of all of us as we bead our lives into art. I wish you all good health, long lives and loving friends and family.

Definitely an interesting substrate for your beading! This page turned out great. Cancer seems to be the big problem in our lifetime. My dad died of brain cancer. Hopefully we can find out what is causing it all and fix it.

I'm sorry it took so long for me to get to your blog. Your pieces are beautiful and I'm sure will be amazing at the end of the year. I can see where it will also be a huge source of healing for you. Very pretty work!
